If the City’s Sanitation and Recycling Division observes a holiday, and your regular collection day falls on that holiday, you will receive collection the next day. The remainder of the collection week will be a day later during that holiday week. This collection delay affects trash, recycling, and yard waste collections.

Bulk Waste Pickup Calendar 2024
Residents with bulk items that need to be disposed of must schedule an appointment to collect the item. Call the Recycling & Sanitation office at 732-9589 to schedule an appointment (three items max).
Large metal items such as grills, bicycles, lawnmowers, lawn chairs, etc. should be dropped off at the Municipal Recycling Facility located behind the Mickey Stevens Sports Complex.
Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
- Lumber – Must be bundled and tied under 4 ft. in length.
- Furniture – Couches, tables, appliances, etc.
- Carpets – Cut to 4 ft. lengths or less, rolled and tied.
Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
- Contractor’s debris- Sheetrock, plaster, roof shingles, insulation, etc.
- Hazardous materials
- Miscellaneous – Loose lumber, animal waste, ashes, sand, stone, cement, dirt, asbestos, oil, car batteries, gasoline, ammunition, etc.
- Loose hypodermic needles
- Computers, monitors, keyboards, printers
- Furnaces, pianos, car and boat parts.
- Box springs and mattresses
- Rigid plastics – Toys
Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.
If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
