Trash Pick Up Holidays

For the week of the Christmas holiday, normal trash and recycling will be picked up on Monday and Tuesday, December 23 and 24. Trash and recycling will not be picked up on December 25 (Christmas Day). It will slide one day Wednesday (Christmas Day) through Friday. So if your regular scheduled day is Wednesday, December 25 it will be picked up Thursday; if your regular scheduled day is Friday it will be picked up Saturday.
Please note: During Thursday, December 26 – Tuesday, December 31, both A & B week recycling will be picked up.
City offices will be closed Wednesday, January 1 in observance of New Year’s Day.
For the week of the New Year’s Day holiday, normal trash and recycling will be picked up on Monday and Tuesday, December 30 and 31. Trash and recycling will not be picked up on January 1 (New Year’s Day). It will slide one day Wednesday through Friday. So if your regular scheduled day is Wednesday, January 1 it will be picked up Thursday; if your regular scheduled day is Friday it will be picked up Saturday.

Bulk Waste Pickup Calendar 2024
Residents may set up to 7 items outside of their cart on a weekly basis. “Bulk items” includes bags and/or large items such as brush, appliances, etc. Put these out on your normal service day. Items too big to fit in your trash bin should be placed on the curb next to the trash cart.
Note: Certain CFC-containing appliances, such as refrigerators, freezers and air conditioning units, require a $25 disposal fee. Contact Central Texas Refuse (CTR) directly at 512-243-2833 to make arrangements.
Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
- Tree, shrub and brush trimmings no longer than 4 feet in length, no more than 4 inches in diameter, and 40 pounds in weight and must be bundled and tied
- Washers/dryers
- Stoves
- Mattresses
- Refrigerant-free refrigerators (door removed)
- Freezers and air conditioners tagged by a licensed refrigerant technician (tag certifies that refrigerant has been removed)
- Fencing material is accepted but must have nails removed, be bundled and tied, be no longer than 4 feet and weigh no more than 40 pounds
- Cardboard that will not fit in the blue recycling cart bundled and placed next to green trash cart
Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
- Absolutely no hazardous materials of any kind can be accepted for pick up
- Household hazardous waste
- Construction material
- Televisions
- Tires
- Dirt
- Rocks
- Concrete
- Batteries
- Roofing shingles
- Ammunition
- Explosives
- Compressed gasses and propane tanks
- Wet cardboard/paper/paper bags cannot be collected
- Any construction debris
- Construction debris may be hauled away in a special container leased from CTR; call CTR at 512-243-2833 for more information
Household Hazardous Waste Front Porch Pickup Program
This program is separate from your trash and recycling services.
For hazardous waste items that can’t be picked up with trash or recycling, you can schedule them to be picked up from your front porch.

Hi Sue. Central Texas Refuse will pick up bulk items on the same day as your weekly service. (Up to 7 items). As for paint you can use the “Household Hazardous Waste Front Porch Pickup Program” (that’s a mouthful!) You can schedule a paint pickup online and they’ll get it from your porch.
