Bulk Waste Pickup Calendar 2024
Bulk items are collected on the same day as your household trash collection.
Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
- Tires will be collected for a fee of $5 off rim / $8 on rim
- All glass needs to be unbroken and have duct tape with an “X” mark from corner to corner.
- Please bag smaller items such as clothing and debris
- Bag all sheetrock/insulation
- Floor covering needs to be cut to 4-foot lengths, rolled & tied
Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
- No automobile parts or batteries
- No dirt, rocks, concrete, or ceramic tile
- No liquids, poisons, or explosives or ammunition
Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.
If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.

Recycling Collection Calendar 2024
Take your recyclables to the city’s new drop-off Recycling & Resource Center located at 3175 Duke Street in Gastonia. This new drop-off center is the result of a partnership between the City of Gastonia and Gaston County to offer more user-friendly options for recyclers.
The new center is open from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday and accepts plastic, cardboard, glass, paper, steel and aluminum cans. For more information, please call 704-922-7729.
