When your normal trash collection day falls on a holiday, there will be no trash or recycling collected on that day. All collections will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the holiday week.

Bulky items and furniture are collected every Friday for the entire city one item per houseshold per week by appointment only. Items need to be left at the curb the night before collection, please call 401-435-7701 to schedule an appointment. Cut off time to schedule bulky item pickup each week is noon time on Thursday. If usable, try to recycle old furniture. Call Furniture Bank of RI 401-831-5511, or other charitable organization for donation.

Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.
If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.

What time does trash collection start?
Trash collection starts at 6 a.m. Make sure to have your bins on the curb by then.
No trash shall be placed out for collection before 3 p.m. on the day prior to the scheduled collection. Failure to comply may result in a fine of $50 per day.
