If a holiday falls on a weekday, pickup for that week will move ahead one day. But when a holiday like Thanksgiving falls on a Thursday, only Thursday and Friday’s collections will move up a day.
Thanksgiving is also the only holiday that excludes metal pickup in those affected districts. Separate metals and recyclables from regular trash.

- padding and fencing – may not exceed 6 feet in length. Fencing must be cut in half and stacked neatly in piles.

Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
- building materials
- tires
- mattresses
- propane tanks
- hazardous waste
- Sand, stone, mortar, conduit, gypsum blocks, lumber, molding, bathroom fixtures, asphalt, plasterboard, plaster, trees, tree stumps, or other refuse from building, remodeling, landscaping or excavating
Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.
If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
