Trash Pick Up Holidays

Here you can see the city-observed holidays.

Friday, April 7th is a township holiday and the trash and recycling schedules are different this week:  Wednesday’s recycling will be collected on Tuesday for Area 2 and Wednesday for Area 1. Friday’s trash and recycling will be collected on Wednesday.

Due to the holidays, your waste collection may take place one day later than your usual collection day.

Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup

Upper Darby Township will pick up the following metal household items for a fee of $10 per item:

  • Large Metal Appliace
  • Washers
  • Dryers
  • Dishwashers
  • Freezers
  • Hot water heaters
  • Air conditioners
  • dehumidifiers
  • Metal filing cabinets
  • Metal Shelving

Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup

  • BBQ grills
  • Fencing
  • Basketball nets
  • Exercise equipment
  • Residential “Clean Outs” related to the sale of property or expiration of rental lease agreements.
    Residential Contractor and Landscape Contractor materials or debris of any kind.
    Dirt, rocks, concrete, bricks
    Hazardous waste, metal drums, oil tanks, gas tanks, tires
    Furnaces, boilers

Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.

If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.

Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
