If your recycle day falls on one of these holidays, trash will be delayed 1 day that week after the holiday i.e. Thanksgiving Day recycle will be emptied on Friday, and Friday’s pick up will be on Saturday.

Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
Larger items have to be taken to the Madison County transfer station that is located at 530 Airport Rd.
Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
Do not include any of the following items in your garbage as it may cause damage to sanitation vehicles.
- Asphalt, gravel, rocks, sod, or dirt
- Asphalt shingles
- Boards, doors, pallets, or plywood
- Cinder blocks
- Concrete
- Glass – other than normal bottles or small containers
- Sheetrock
- Car batteries
- White goods (stoves, washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, etc.)
- Mattresses
- Carpet or carpet padding
- Dead animals
- Metal objects
- Motor oil
- Paint
- Tires
- Tree limbs or tree stumps
- Christmas trees
- Any other yard waste, large items, or construction material that may cause damage to sanitation vehicles.
Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.
If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
