Muncie pick-up trash every day of the year except for Christmas.
In the event that Christmas falls during the week, trash collection will not run. Collection will resume the following day and run behind schedule one day for the remainder of the week.

Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
Weekly pickup of bulk items such as limbs, furniture, appliances, and other household items that do not fit into a 96 gallon toter, provided they meet the guidelines (call or check the Muncie Sanitary District website for the guidelines)
Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
- Hazardous Household Waste and materials banned from a landfill (motor oil, paint, etc)
- Needles
- Construction Material
- Large quantities of animal waste
- Human Waste
- Dead Animals

If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
