Maryville Trash Pickup Schedule

Bulk Waste Pickup Schedule 2024

The City provides curbside pickup of household junk and brush on a monthly basis.

Placement time: Place junk/ brush items up to three days before the zone collection begins. If items are not placed at the curb before the truck comes through, it will not be picked up and the items will need to be removed until the following month. City ordinance requires junk cannot be placed at the curb more than three days before the zone collection begins.

For junk/brush pickup, the City is divided into four operational zones: BLUE, GREEN, RED, and YELLOW and pickup occurs every month.

Find your zone at My Government Services. Click the link, type in your address, and find information about your services.

What day should I have junk or brush out for pickup?
2023 Brush and Junk Zone Calendar – This calendar highlights when each zone can put out junk and brush.

General Requirements for Junk and Brush Curbside Pick Up:

  • Junk and brush piles must be within twelve (12) feet of the curb.
  • Do not place junk and brush that will create a sight block for traffic.
  • Do not place junk and brush in the roadway or in ditches which can block stormwater flow.
  • Do not place junk and brush near electrical boxes, water meter boxes , phone boxes, fire hydrants, and power poles.
  • Tires (removed from rims/wheels) may be placed at the curb in a separate pile. No more than four (4) tires at one time, and no more than twelve (12) tires per year per location.

Junk Requirements:

  • Boxes should be empty and flattened out. Separate styrofoam or other packing materials from the flattened boxes. Don’t want to send cardboard to the landfill? Consider taking flattened cardboard boxes to one of the recycling centers.
  • Always separate brush from household junk. Why? Brush can be recycled in a more environmentally-friendly process at a much lower cost than household or construction waste. However, if it is mixed together, it all must go to the landfill.
  • Junk should be contained in bags or boxes so that it is not scattered and does not blow away.
  • We will pick up appliances.

Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup

  • Construction, remodeling, and/or building materials – please contact the City for information on construction waste disposal.
  • Chemical hazardous waste (liquid paint and other chemicals) – please contact Keep Blount Beautiful to learn about hazardous waste disposal.
  • Rock, concrete, bricks or dirt.

Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.

If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.

Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.

There are a number of junk removal services in Maryville and I’m sure many of them will be able to help you out.
