Trash Pick Up Holidays
Here you can see the city-observed holidays.
- New Year’s Day (January 1st)
- Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)
- Independence Day (July 4th)
- Labor Day (First Monday in September)
- Thanksgiving Day (Fourth Thursday in November)
- Christmas Day (December 25th)
If the holiday falls during the work week, collection for the remainder of the week will be postponed by one day. For example, if the 4th of July falls on a Monday, and your normal collection day is on Thursday, your pickup for that week will be on Friday.
If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, trash will be collected on your normal collection day with no delays to your pickup.

Bulk Waste Pickup
The City of La Habra single-family unit residents are entitled to four (4) free bulky item pickups per year. Multi-family unit residents also get four (4) free bulky item pickups per year per unit. For each pickup, CR&R Incorporated, the City’s waste contractor, will retrieve up to 4 large items or 20 plastic bags of refuse or bundles of yard waste (less than 50 pounds each) per pickup. Additional pickups are available for a nominal fee.

If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.

What time does trash collection start?
Trash collection starts at 7 a.m. Make sure to have your bins on the curb by then.
Please place your carts side-by-side approximately one (1) foot apart and at least three (3) feet from any obstruction (i.e. car, fire hydrant, trees). Place your carts with the handles and wheels facing towards your home. Please remove from curbside within 12 hours after service. Items not in carts will not be collected.
