Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup

Each household paying a trash fee is entitled to free pick-up of one bulk item per week. To schedule pick-up, call Republic Services at 800-425-0095 or submit the online form at least 48 hours before your scheduled collection day. Put the item curbside with your trash. Accepted items include the following:

  • Carpet (one roll cut into 3′ lengths, rolled, and tied)
  • Copiers and printers (more than 40 lbs.)
  • Couches, loveseats, or other furniture under 60 inches
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Exercise machines
  • Gas and electric stoves
  • Lawnmowers and snow blowers (remove gas and oil)
  • Lumber (one bundle, 3′ lengths, not to exceed 50 lbs.)
  • Metal filing cabinets and desks
  • Refrigerators and freezers (remove doors)
  • Toilets and sinks (not bathtubs)
  • Trash compactors
  • Washers and dryers
  • Water coolers and heaters
  • Window air conditioners
  • Call for.other.items

  • Biomedical waste
  • Ammunition
  • Explosives
  • Sharps

Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.

If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.

Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
