Special pickup collection is every other week on the same day as garbage pickup. Only two items are allowed, and must be at least 3 feet from your garbage cart.
Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
- large household furniture items
- refrigerated appliances must be tagged by a licensed refrigeration technician certifying that all FREON gas has been properly removed prior to collection
- carpet must be rolled and tied. Rolls are to be no longer than 4 feet and no heavier than what one person can pick up and carry
- clothing dressers must have the drawers pulled out and set next to the dresser
- mattresses, box springs, mattress foam toppers, or any items from a bed must be wrapped in plastic
Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
- oil or gas items (lawnmowers, snow blowers, etc.)
- items containing Freon
- automotive parts
- construction items
- extra trash
Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.
If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
