Bulk Waste Pickup Calendar 2024

Residents are able to schedule a pick-up for the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The cost is $25 for up to three bulk items per stop. Payment options include exact amount, check or credit card. Register by mail, by phone with credit card information at 740-203-1810, or in person at 440 East William Street between 7 am – 4 pm, Monday – Friday.

Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup

  • Appliances (non‐refrigerant) including water heaters, washer, dryers, stoves, dishwashers, microwave oven, televisions and computers.
  • Appliances (containing refrigerant) including refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners. A “Verification of Refrigerant Removal” form is required at the time of application.
  • Household furniture, including lawn and patio furniture sets
  • Carpeting and padding must be cut and securely bundled with tape or cord into rolls not exceeding 4 feet in length. Up to 18 individual bundles of carpeting will be considered as a single item.
  • Mattresses and box springs MUST be individually wrapped in heavy plastic & securely taped. Unwrapped mattresses and box springs will not be taken. A mattress and box spring set with frame and headboard will be considered a single item.
  • Bathtubs/toilets/sinks/doors
  • Exercise equipment (treadmills, exercise bikes, etc.)
  • Glass must be removed from bulk items, placed in a box, taped shut and marked glass
  • Basketball poles (remove backboard from pole). The pole should be cut into 4‐foot sections and all weight removed from base.
  • Fluorescent bulbs placed in a box or bag, taped shut and marked fluorescent bulbs

Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup

  • Construction materials: concrete/asphalt/dirt/dry wall/flooring/wood pallets/stone
  • Auto parts; tires/batteries; gas-powered lawn equipment
  • Hazardous waste/oil/paint/flammable or explosive materials/propane tanks
  • Yard waste/brush/rocks/dirt/railroad ties/logs
  • Pianos, spas, hot tubs, pool tables
  • Cardboard or any miscellaneous bulk household trash

Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.

If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.

Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
