Trash Pick Up Holidays
Here you can see the city-observed holidays.
Recology provides garbage service Monday through Saturday every week, except for the following holidays:
- New Years Day
- July 4th
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
When these holidays fall on a weekday, garbage service will be delayed one day.
For example, if a holiday falls on a Tuesday, regular Tuesday customers will receive refuse collection on Wednesday, and Wednesday customers will receive refuse collection on Thursday, etc. Friday customers will have their pickup on Saturday. Regular service resumes the week following the holiday. Any holiday not mentioned does not affect the pickup schedule.

Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
Recology Sonoma Marin offers curbside bulky item collections for items that don’t fit in your cart, like old furniture, appliances, or mattresses.

Rohnert Park residents can now schedule Two (2) free bulky item pick-ups per year!
Each residence is allowed:
- 14 bags, boxes, or cans of refuse, or
- 7 bags, boxes, or cans of refuse and 1 bulky item, or
- 2 bulky items
All items (excluding furniture and appliance) must be contained and weigh less than 60 pounds. Loose items will not be collected.
Excess materials will not be collected.
Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
- Construction and demolition debris
- No liquids, cement, dirt, or asphalt
- Hazardous waste, including, pressure-treated wood, tires, televisions, batteries, propane tanks, cleaners, paint, etc. More information on hazardous waste disposal.
Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.
If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
