Trash Pick Up Holidays
Here you can see the city-observed holidays.
There is no collection on:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- 4th of July
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
When a collection falls on one of these observed holidays, garbage collection will be one day later for the remainder of the week. Residents whose regular collection occurs on Friday will have their garbage and recycling picked up on Saturday.

Two bulk items (not appliances or oversized/overweight items) may be discarded per week at no additional cost.
Please contact Groot to notify them of the items that will be placed out for collection on your scheduled collection day at 630-892-9294.
Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
Bulk items include, barrels, crates, furniture and similar items that do not fit into a proper container and can be collected/lifted by one driver without assistance.
Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
Exceptions include items that are banned from direct disposal into a landfill, such as appliances, tires, car batteries, televisions and electronic waste.
Naperville Junk Removal Services
If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
