Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup

  • Plastics with #1, #2, or #5 (#3, #4, #6, & #7 should be placed in the trash stream)
  • Glass bottles and jars, all colors
  • Metal cans both steel and tin and empty aerosol cans
  • Cardboard, juice, cereal and milk boxes, egg cartons, newspapers, magazines
  • Phone books, junk mail, pamphlets, shredded paper in paper bags, paperback and hardbound books, greeting cards, file folders, blueprints, envelopes with windows, any paper good with tape, wire, fasteners, etc.
  • Aluminum cans, pie plates and foil

Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup

  • Food, tarps, Pyrex or CorningWare, mirrors, window glass, drinking glasses, ceramics, diapers, batteries, styrofoam, styrofoam meat trays, plastic bags, plastic wrap, bubble wrap, Tyvek envelopes, paper towels, tissues, napkins, coat hangers, packing peanuts, needles, syringes, hazardous waste, ice cream containers, wax coated corrugated paper, toasters, cooking pots/pans, oil or antifreeze, paint or paint cans.

Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.

If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.

Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
