Trash Pick Up Holidays
Here you can see the city-observed holidays.
- Thanksgiving Day (4th Thursday in November)
- Christmas Day (December 25th)
- New Year’s Day (January 1st)
If your regular collection day falls on Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year’s Day, your service will be delayed one day. If your collection day comes later in the week after collection has been delayed because of a weekday holiday, your service will also be one day later that week.
If these holidays fall on a weekend, regular residential collection schedules apply.
Thanksgiving Example: Since Thanksgiving falls on a Thursday:
- Residents whose garbage and recycling is usually collected on Thursday have Friday service the day after Thanksgiving.
- Residents whose regular day is Friday have Saturday service after Thanksgiving. Regular collection schedules resume the next Monday.

Bulky items can be picked up by special arrangement. Email WM Customer Service or call 425-587-0040 (Mon-Fri 7 am – 7 pm, SAT 9 am – 1 pm).
All WM Kirkland residential garbage customers will receive a curbside collection of one bulky household item at no additional charge each year, beginning July 1, 2022. Please call WM customer service center to schedule a pick-up.

Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
Unsure what items are unacceptable for bulk pickup? Call WM customer service at 425-587-0040.
Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.
If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
There are a number of junk removal services in Kirkland and I’m sure many of them will be able to help you out.

Trash collection starts at 7 a.m. Make sure to have your bins on the curb by then.
Place carts three (3) feet apart and at least three (3) feet from cars, trees, mailboxes, or fences.
