- Memorial Day: No pickup Monday, May 29. All pickups will be on a one-day delay this week, running Tuesday, May 30, through Saturday, June 3.
- Independence Day: Normal pickup Monday, July 3. No pickup on Tuesday, July 4. Remaining pickup days will be on a one-day delay this week, running Wednesday, July 5, through Saturday, July 8.
- Labor Day: No pickup Monday, September 4. All pickups will be on a one-day delay this week, running Tuesday, September 5, through Saturday, September 9.
- Thanksgiving Day: Normal pickup Monday, November 20, through Wednesday, November 22. No pickup Thursday, November 23. Thursday and Friday pickups will be on a one-day delay, running Friday, November 24, and Saturday, November 25.

If you live in the city of Huntington, you are allowed one free bulk pickup per month if the load can fit into an eight-foot pickup truck.
Special pickups are reserved for large, bulky items that cannot be picked up with your weekly household garbage.
To request a special pickup, call 304-696-5540 (press option 1 for Public Works). City workers will assess the size of the pickup order and will contact you if a fee applies.

Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.
If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
