Landfill will be open to the public from 7:30am-11:30am. Solid Waste Services Administration and Residential Collections CLOSED. Residential collections that would normally be collected on Monday will be rescheduled for collection on the Monday AFTER the holiday, Wednesday, January 18th. Commercial collection will be serviced as normal and Industrial collections will have limited service.
Good Friday – Friday, April 7
Landfill will be open to the public from 7:30am-11:30am. Solid Waste Services Administration and Residential Collections CLOSED. Residential collections that would normally be collected on Friday will be rescheduled for collection on the Wednesday BEFORE the holiday, Wednesday, April 5th. Commercial collection will be serviced as normal and Industrial collections will have limited service.
Memorial Day – Monday, May 29
ALL of Solid Waste Services CLOSED – Residential collections that would normally be collected on Monday will be rescheduled for collection on Wednesday AFTER the holiday on Wednesday, May 31st. Commercial and Industrial collections will be worked in throughout the week.
Juneteenth – Monday, June 19
Landfill will be open to the public from 7:30am-11:30am. Solid Waste Services Administration and Residential Collections CLOSED. Residential collections that would normally be collected on Monday will be rescheduled for collection on Wednesday AFTER the holiday on Wednesday, June 21st. Commercial collection will be serviced as normal and Industrial collections will have limited service.
Independence Day – Tuesday, July 4

Labor Day – Monday, September 4

Veteran’s Day – Friday, November 10

Thanksgiving Day – Thursday, November 23
ALL of Solid Waste Services CLOSED – Residential collections that would normally be collected on Thursday will be rescheduled for collection on the Wednesday BEFORE the holiday, Wednesday, November 22nd. Commercial and Industrial collections will be worked in throughout the week.
Day after Thanksgiving – Friday, November 24

Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
Residents needing to dispose of bulky items such as couches, appliances, furniture, outdoor grills, mattresses, box springs and other large objects can make special arrangements with the City of Fort Smith Department of Solid Waste Services to have these items picked up. Our Dial-A-Truck line for removal of bulky items is 784-2350.

Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.
If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
