The City of Cerritos is in California with Bellflower to the northwest, Cypress to the south, Lakewood to the west, Buena Park to the east.

Trash Pick Up Holidays

Here you can see the city-observed holidays.

  • New Year’s Day—Routes will be delayed one day beginning January 1 (provided it lands on a weekday) and will continue through Saturday.
  • Memorial Day—All routes will be delayed one day through Saturday.
  • Independence Day—Routes will be delayed one day beginning July 4 (provided it lands on a weekday) and will continue through Saturday.
  • Labor Day—All routes will be delayed one day through Saturday.
  • Thanksgiving Day—Routes scheduled for Thursday will be delayed one day through Saturday.
  • Christmas Day—Routes will be delayed one day beginning December 25 (provided it lands on a weekday) and will continue through Saturday.

If your normal trash collection day falls on one of these holidays, your trash will be picked up the following day. All other trash collection throughout the City will be delayed by one day for the remainder of that week.

Note: Trash is picked up as regularly scheduled on the weeks of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, and Veterans Day holidays.

Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup

  • car and boat parts
  • hazardous waste

Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.

If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.

Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.

There are a number of junk removal services in Cerritos and I’m sure many of them will be able to help you out.
