Trash Pick Up Holidays
Here you can see the city-observed holidays.
There are 6 holidays when trash, recycling, and yard debris are NOT picked up in Cape Coral:
- New Year’s Day January 1
- Memorial Day Last Monday in May
- Independence Day July 4
- Labor Day First Monday in September
- Thanksgiving Day Fourth Thursday in November
- Christmas Day December 25
If your scheduled pick-up day falls on one of these days, then your pick-up day will move to the next day. All pick-ups will slide by one day for that week following the holiday.

- Appliances
- Furniture
- Electronics
- Mattresses
Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup
- “Move-Outs” are not part of the normal bulk pick-up process and must be scheduled for removal. Note: A fee may be imposed.
- Household chemical waste (fuel, paint, solvents, propane tanks) will not be accepted and should be taken to the Lee County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility located at 6441 Topaz Court, Fort Myers.
Cape Coral Junk Removal Services
If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.
Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
