Trash Pick Up Holidays

Here you can see the city-observed holidays.

On the following upcoming dates, Trash and Recycling collection will not be performed. Collection will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week:

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 16th
  • Memorial Day, May 29th
  • Independence Day, July 4th
  • Labor Day, September 4th
  • Thanksgiving Day, November 23rd
  • Christmas Day, December 25th

NOTE:  There will be no trash/recycle delay for the Juneteeth Holiday

Bulk Waste Pickup Calendar 2023

Acceptable Items for Bulk Pickup

  • Furniture such as dressers, mattresses, couches, chairs and bookcases
  • Appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, freezers, microwaves, washers & dryers
  • House doors, storm doors, storm windows
  • Bicycles, basketball hoops (dismantled)
  • Electronics such as televisions 19″ and above, speakers, stereo’s
  • Automotive tires (8 per year)

Items needing to be bundled and tied, no longer than 4 feet in length:

  • Wood, branches, brush, carpeting, and fencing

Unacceptable Items for Bulk Pickup

Household garbage, hazardous building material, construction material and chemicals.

Have bulky items the city won’t pick up? You need a junk removal service.

If you have large items that the city won’t take from you, you may need to hire a junk removal service.

Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.

There are a number of junk removal services in Akron and I’m sure many of them will be able to help you out.
