If your collection day falls on or after one of these three holidays, your collection will be one day later that week. For example, if your regularly scheduled collection day falls on Thanksgiving Day, Recology CleanScapes will collect your material on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. If your regularly scheduled collection day is Friday, your materials will be collected on Saturday.

* Single-Family Customers are entitled to one annual no cost collection of up to one cubic yard of Garbage once each year at the Curb for collection on the Customer’s regular collection day, plus two non-appliance bulky items such as couches or large chairs

Junk removal services are not be as picky about the items they’re collecting so if the city won’t take the item, this may be your best bet. There’s usually a fee involved with junk removal but most companies can tell you ahead of time approximately what it’s going to cost.
